Before you ride
Compo Turbo is for fitness training, not medical advice. Check with a doctor before starting a new training plan, especially if you have a heart condition or another health problem. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or unusually short of breath. Make sure your bike and trainer are set up safely.
- Not a medical device. Compo Turbo doesn't diagnose, treat or monitor any condition. Heart rate, power, cadence and calorie figures come from your sensors and simple estimates, and may be wrong.
- FTP tests are maximal efforts. Only do a ramp or 20-minute test if you're healthy and used to hard exercise.
- Set up safely. Follow your trainer maker's instructions, check the bike is held firmly, keep children and pets away from moving parts, and keep cool and drink water.
- Ride within your limits. Workout targets are based on the FTP you enter. If a target feels too hard, lower the intensity, or stop.
The app shows this when you first open it, and again in Settings › About.

Health and fitness data in the app
Compo Turbo uses these health and fitness details to run your workouts and show your rides:
- FTP and weight
- Entered by you. FTP sets your workout targets, and weight is used for watts per kilo.
- Heart rate
- From your heart rate monitor, recorded every second during a ride.
- Power and cadence
- From your trainer, power meter or cadence sensor, recorded every second during a ride.
- Active calories
- An estimate from the work you did: about 1 kcal for every 1 kJ of work.
All of it is stored on your phone only. We never receive it. See the privacy policy for how the app stores data.
03
Health Connect (Android)
You can choose to save your rides to Health Connect, so they appear alongside your other activity in apps you use. It's off until you switch it on in Settings › Health.
Compo Turbo only writes to Health Connect. It never reads any of your health data. When you allow it, each finished ride is saved as a stationary-bike workout with:
- Exercise
- The workout session, its name, laps, pauses and pedalling cadence.
- Power
- Your power in watts through the ride.
- Heart rate
- Your heart rate through the ride, if you used a monitor.
- Active calories burned
- The estimate described above.
- When. With the switch on, each ride is sent after it's saved. You can also send any ride from its summary screen. Sending the same ride again doesn't create a duplicate.
- Choose what's shared. You can allow or refuse each data type in Health Connect. Types you refuse are skipped.
- Demo rides aren't sent. Rides with the built-in demo trainer never go to Health Connect.
- Not sent: distance, speed, steps, location or total calories.
04
Apple Health (iPhone)
Where Compo Turbo supports Apple Health, it works in the same way as Health Connect: it's off until you switch it on, it only saves your finished rides as cycling workouts with the same data, and every rule on this page applies. You can change what Compo Turbo may write at any time in the Health app › Profile › Apps.
05
How we use health data
Health and fitness data is used only to run your workouts, show your rides and statistics, export your rides when you ask, and save them to the health app you chose. We never:
- send it to our own servers, or let anyone at CompoID see it;
- use it for advertising or marketing, or give it to ad networks;
- sell it, or share it with data brokers or other third parties;
- use it to decide on credit, insurance or employment.
Compo Turbo's use of Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
06
Your control
- Stop sending. Switch off Settings › Health in Compo Turbo. Rides already sent stay in Health Connect.
- Remove access. Open Health Connect › App permissions › Compo Turbo and turn off any or all permissions.
- Delete data. Deleting a ride in Compo Turbo doesn't remove it from Health Connect or Apple Health. Delete it there, or remove all of Compo Turbo's data in Health Connect › App permissions › Compo Turbo › Delete app data.
