01
The short version
- We collect nothing. Fleeting has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. We never receive your photos or anything else from the app.
- Fleeting never goes online. The app makes no internet connections at all. On Android it doesn't even ask for internet access.
- Your photos stay inside the app. They're kept in Fleeting's private storage on your phone and only appear in your Photos library or gallery, or reach anyone else, if you tap Save or Share.
- Un-kept photos delete themselves. Photos you don't mark Keep are deleted from your phone after the period you choose (30 days unless you change it).
02
Who we are
Fleeting is a private camera app made by Richard Booth, trading as CompoID (“we”, “us”). Under UK and EU data protection law, we are responsible for how the app handles your information.
You can contact us about privacy at any time: admin@compo-app.com.
03
What the app stores on your phone
To work, Fleeting keeps the following on your device. None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
- Your photos
- Each photo you take, a small preview of it, when you took it, the filter you used, and whether you marked it Keep. Photos don't include your location: Fleeting never asks for it.
- Your settings
- Camera choices such as flash, timer, grid, aspect ratio, filter, photo quality, selfie mirroring and haptics, and how long to keep un-kept photos.
Everything is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps, including Photos and your gallery, can't read.
04
Permissions we ask for
- Camera
- To show the viewfinder and take photos.
- Add to Photos (iPhone) or storage (Android 8 and 9 only)
- Asked for the first time you tap Save, so Fleeting can add that photo to your Photos library or gallery. On iPhone this is add-only access: Fleeting can't see or read anything already in your library. Newer Android phones don't need a permission for this.
Fleeting doesn't ask for your location, microphone or contacts, and never reads your Photos library or gallery. You can turn off either permission at any time in your phone's settings; the app keeps working, and the photos you already have stay available.
05
When information leaves your phone
Fleeting itself never sends anything anywhere. Your photos only leave the app in these ways:
- When you save or share a photo. Save adds a copy to your Photos library or gallery. Share opens your phone's share sheet, and the app you choose (Messages, email and so on) receives a copy. From then on, that copy is handled by your phone or by that app, not by Fleeting, and Fleeting won't delete it when the original expires.
- Phone backups. If you have iCloud Backup or Android backup turned on, your phone may include Fleeting's photos and settings in its backup. Backups are handled by Apple or Google under your account and settings, not by us. A backup can keep a copy of a photo after Fleeting has deleted it, until the backup is replaced.
- Links. The privacy policy link in the app opens this page in your browser. The website, not the app, is what your browser connects to.
06
This website
Like most websites, our host (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and time of request, for a short time for security and to keep the service running. This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
07
What we don’t do
- We don't collect, store or receive your photos or any other data from the app, including photos you share.
- The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, ours or anyone else's.
- We don't sell, rent or trade information, because we don't have any.
- We don't track your location, and Fleeting never asks for it.
08
Keeping and deleting your photos
Photos you don't mark Keep are deleted automatically once they're older than the period set in Settings: 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month (the default). Each photo shows how many days it has left. The app checks every time you open it, and in the background when your phone allows. Kept photos are never deleted automatically.
You can also:
- delete a photo from its full-screen view, or several at once with Select;
- delete every un-kept photo straight away in Settings;
- delete everything, including kept photos, by uninstalling Fleeting or clearing its data in your phone's settings.
Deleted photos can't be recovered from the app.
09
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to receive a copy of it. Fleeting keeps your photos on your phone and we hold nothing from the app, so you control all of it yourself. If you email us, we use your message only to reply, and you can ask us to delete it at admin@compo-app.com. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or to your local data protection authority.
10
Children
Fleeting collects no information from anyone, including children. If you think a child has emailed us, contact us and we'll delete the message.
11
Security
Your photos are kept in Fleeting's private storage, which other apps can't read. They're protected by your phone's screen lock and encryption, so keep your phone locked and up to date. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open Fleeting.
12
Changes to this policy
If we change how Fleeting handles your information, for example by adding any online feature, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
